Arts

Art is the oldest language I speak — one that required no translation when I crossed borders. Painting is the longest thread: years of serious study that continue today. Guitar and dance have come and gone in waves, but they always come back.

Painting is the longest-running practice in my life — the one art form I have studied seriously with a teacher for several years, and the one I keep returning to. It began with traditional Chinese brush and ink, crossed into the structured world of Western drawing during my years in Sweden, and the two traditions have been in conversation ever since. In Grade 10 my work took 2nd place in my school's Chinese Traditional Painting & Calligraphy Competition. The newest sketchbook and studio pieces open the gallery below; beneath them, the archive reaches back to childhood.
